The upcoming Annular Solar Eclipse on Saturday, October 14th provides so many learning opportunities for all of us! I found this awesome website that includes an interactive predictor of what the solar eclipse will look like. Show this to your kids and see if the predictor is accurate, and if not, discuss the differences and why that may be.
There is also an interactive solar eclipse map where you can "Zoom in and search for accurate eclipse times and visualizations for any location."
Also lots of data presented in tables which provides for great analysis, discussion and theorizing. My favorite is how many people can see this solar eclipse by percentage of eclipse in an area. All the data is a great resource to create graphs for further exploration.
